Prof. Dr. Kai-Alexander SCHLEVOGT (Prof Kai)

Topic: Best Practice in Flashpoint Leadership – Lessons from East and West

Prof. Dr. Kai-Alexander Schlevogt serves as the first professor of management practice at the National University of Singapore, NUS Business School, Department of Business Policy, where he specializes in global leadership and growth strategies in emerging markets, especially Asia. He is Program Director of the Nestlé Global Leadership Program, delivered in association with London Business School. He publishes the widely-read biweekly column “Prof. Kai on Strategic Leadership” in the Jakarta Post, the leading English-language newspaper in Indonesia. Prof. Kai also serves as the Chief Editor of the Global Leadership Review. He was appointed as Fellow of the McKinsey & Co. Global Institute (MGI). He also founded the first business school in Germany focusing on European-Chinese economic relationships, and served as its President. He was the first regular foreign professor in the history of Peking University, a senior faculty member at the Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM), and Visiting Full Professor at the Henley Management College (UK). Besides, he held appointments as Associate at the Harvard University Fairbank Center for East Asian Research and Visiting Scholar at the Harvard Business School. He also served as a strategic management consultant for McKinsey & Co. in Greater China, advising the Malaysian Prime Minister on how to develop a Multimedia Supercorridor. He worked as Country Manager for "Colonia-Victoire" (now: AXA Colonia) and Representative of the Association of German Insurers in the former Soviet Union, advising the Russian Government on insurance legislation. Prof. Kai is listed in the "Who's Who in the World". One of his three books, The Art of Chinese Management (Oxford University Press), has been hailed as the standard text on the subject. He also published over two hundred articles in leading journals, magazines and newspapers around the world. Prof. Kai serves as regular TV commentator for Channel NewsAsia and other broadcasting stations. He holds a Ph.D. in Management Studies from the University of Oxford. Prof. Adrianus MOOY

Topic: Management of Capital Flows and Development: The Case of Indonesia

Prof. Mooy obtained his Bachelor of Economics degree from Universitas Gajah Mada, Yogyakarta, his Master of Science and PhD of Economics from the University of Wisconsin, USA. He was the Deputy-Chairman of the National Development Planning Agency (BAPPENAS) for 15 years, member of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) for 10 years, Governor of Bank Indonesia (1988-1993), and later appointed as the Ambassador to the European Union in 1993. He was also the United Nations Under-Secretary General/ Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN-ESCAP) from 1995-2000. He had been teaching at Universitas Indonesia for more than 20 years and got his professorship on economics in 1987. From 2004-2005 he served as the Senior Advisor to the United Nations Support Facility for Indonesian Recovery (UNSFIR). He is a Founder and a Director for Strategic Asia, a private consulting firm and Chair Professor at Asian Banking, Finance and Informatics (ABFI) Institute. He is also the Senior Advisor/Mentor and Acting Dean of Business School at Universitas Pelita Harapan. He was born in 1936 and lives happily with his wife Amelia, 3 daughters and 3 grandchildren.



Prof. Bambang BRODJONEGORO

Topic: Impact of US Financial Crisis on Emerging Indonesia

Prof. Bambang Brodjonegoro was born in Jakarta, October 3, 1966. He got his bachelor degree in economics from Department of Economics, University of Indonesia with specialization in economic planning. His master and Ph.D in the field of Regional Science were obtained from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign USA. His current position is the Dean of the Faculty of Economics, University of Indonesia, and full Professor in economics since December 2005. He has published numerous articles in several academic journals and books such as Hitotsubashi Journal of Economics, The Institute of Southeast Asian Studies, Korea Development Studies, and Economics and Finance in Indonesia. He has also presented papers in various international academic conferences on regional development, fiscal decentralization, international economics, and decision making method. He is teaching at the Faculty of Economics University of Indonesia and had been a guest lecturer at Hitotsubashi University Japan and University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA. He received some honors such as Eisenhower Fellowship in 2002, visiting research fellowship at ISEAS Singapore in 1999, visiting research fellowship at Canberra in 2004, and the Honored Student of University of Indonesia in 1989.
