A small but jolly group of Kuala Lumpur-based alumni met for a Chinese New Year celebration on January 16, where they renewed old ties and plotted to expand the KL chapter of the NUS Business School Alumni Association.

Held at the popular Ah Yat Abalone Forum Restaurant in Petaling Jaya, the event was attended by seven distinguished alumni, namely Mr Yuen Swee Yong (BBA Hons 1978), Datuk Yong Ah Pwi (APEX-C MBA 1999), Mr Chong Ting Chow (BBA 1982), Mr Wong Yoon Chan (BBA 1982), Mr Yeoh Cheang Teik (BBA 1981), Prof Irene Ng (PhD 2003) and Mr Danny Foo (BBA 1982).

Over the eight courses, they began sketching out tentative plans for the expanding the KL chapter, based on the experience of other alumni chapters that Mr Darryl Hoo from the Global Alumni Network Office shared. Given the small size of the association, the KL chapter is considering opening up membership to alumni from other faculties as well.

Those gathered had a good time catching up and relished the challenge of growing the chapter, especially with the support from the office in Singapore. Said Mr Chong: “I enjoyed the company of everyone, particularly with some of my classmates from BBA ’82. With the support of the school I am confident that the KL chapter will register better progress this year.”
